In procurement there are daily risks that we are faced with. A couple of these risks it’s easy to walk away from while others may remain somehow on your trail. One risk a friend of mine shared recently was that his job was now unsafe because of the decisions he passed as a procurement specialist in a certain procurement process. Sometimes we will make decisions based purely and solidly on procurement guidelines and regulations be it in private or public sector.
As my colleague explained, he was stressed because the decision he went with i.e. the correct one was not what someone in the higher ranks of his organization wanted.
The risks he was facing?
- Loss of a job
- Loss of his life
- Job frustration
What risks have you taken in procurement or even in your work environment that have rubbed someone higher up in the ranks the wrong way?
